EMERGING NOISE MAKERS VILLAINOUS RELEASE DEBUT EP AND DROP LYRIC VIDEO

Emerging heavyweights Villainous have released their captivating self-titled debut EP, available from all platforms. The UK newcomers have also just released a spanking new lyric video, ‘In Solace’.

Coming at you from Brighton, Villainous bond together a commanding sound tugging from the rampant power of Mastodon and Lamb Of God, the astuteness of Deftones and Alice In Chains, and the progressive intrigue of Tool.

The southern riff slingers feature Sean Stakim (vocals), Neil MacCallum (guitar/vocals), Nick Read (bass/vocals), and Callum Armitage (drums), and pack together a heady mix of groove-driven drop-tuned riffs with expansive choruses and gripping multiple vocal lines.

Born at the end of last year, the inventive quartet soon amassed a stout set, and have just released their self-titled EP. The band comment about the release: “The EP represents three characters in a different state of acceptance of their own existence. One is someone who has given in and allowed themselves to be shaped and moulded by their surroundings, one reflects on the time they have wasted but asks for more when aware of their impending death, and one refuses to be a product of their environment, revelling in the chaos that they have been born into.

Villainous have a series of shows in the works for the end of this year, and are currently planning a host of releases and tours for 2019.

HIGH-OCTANE CORNISH PUNKS PIRATE COPY UNVEIL VIDEO AHEAD OF DEBUT ALBUM RELEASE

Pirate Copy band photo

Unruly punk rock quartet Pirate Copy are plotting a fresh journey of rambunctious shenanigans, commencing with the launch of their brand new video, ‘Reckless Alice’, which was premiered with Vive Le Rock earlier this week, and is lifted from the band’s forthcoming album, ‘Swashbuckle & Swagger, out on Friday 26th October, via Black Sail Records.

Cleverly merging the vigour of punk rock to the buccaneering backstory that underpins their Cornish heritage, Pirate Copy have caused a stir across the south-west and beyond, leaving a plethora of livewire gigs, indomitable fun, and memorable songs in their wake.

Although based in Cornwall, the band have made regular jaunts across the land, establishing themselves as festival favourites, in part thanks to the interactively inclusive mayhem of their live show.

2013’s ‘The Shape Of Piracy To Come’ EP was the band’s first tangible sign of bounteous booty, and further runs of festival appearances and shows followed, including a glut of memorable trips to the capital, before a second EP, the mighty ‘Goin’ Down A Storm’, dropped in May 2015.

Now, PIRATE COPY are ready to unleash their dynamite debut album, which displays a dirty dozen of devastating ditties, marinated in rum and other unmentionable fluids, ready to attack your eardrums.

Vive Le Rock writer, Dick Porter, remarked about the album, “To experience Pirate Copy in full flow, as Poseidon intended, is a joy indeed. ‘Swashbuckle & Swagger’ is a treasure chest of pleasures; combining live floor fillers such as ‘Somalian Pirates Suck’, and legendary set closer, ‘I’m On A Boat’, with devilishly crafted new material like ‘Outlaw Pirates’, they have opened a Pandora’s box of piratical punk power.”

‘SWASHBUCKLE & SWAGGER’, THE DEBUT ALBUM FROM PIRATE COPY, WILL BE RELEASED ON OCTOBER 26, VIA BLACK SAIL RECORDS.

POP-PUNK NEWCOMERS DOWNCAST ANNOUNCE DEBUT EP AND UNVEIL NEW LYRIC VIDEO

Downcast EP Photo

Pop-punk newcomers Downcast drop their ultra-magnetic self-titled debut EP on Friday 11th January 2019. In anticipation, the fledgling outfit have just revealed a lyric video for their blistering debut track, ‘Anthurium’.

Channelling emotive drive with addictive melodies, Downcast wear their hearts on their sleeves. Drawing influence from everyone from seasoned luminaries such as The Wonder Years and Alkaline Trio, to highly-rated UK stewards ROAM and Neck Deep, the band’s reach is notably diverse, and their sound is intoxicating.

Downcast were only formed this year, however, the trio have wasted no time perfecting their set and working tirelessly on their debut EP with revered producer Ian Sadler (Anavae, ROAM).

The band’s lead vocalist, Liam Edwards, commented: “We wrote and demoed the EP in our bedrooms over the course of about five months. I wanted to write something honest…I hope that this EP will resonate with anyone who is going through a hard time and helps them to feel less alone. I’ve used putting my thoughts and feelings into songs as a way of coping with negative emotions for a while now; it gives them a long-term purpose. I feel that negative things in your life often reveal positive meanings over time. If the things I’ve written about never happened, these five songs wouldn’t exist today.”

Downcast don’t reveal their debut EP until January next year, but it is certainly worth the wait. Expressing five slabs of truly engaging heartfelt melodic punk, this is a band that are destined to break out to a national audience.

Over the coming months, the industrious tunesmiths will release a series of singles and videos, as well as announcing their first UK tour. Big things lay ahead for the band.

‘ANTHURIUM’, THE DEBUT SINGLE FROM DOWNCAST, IS AVAILABLE NOW, AND THE BAND’S SELF-TITLED FIRST EP WILL BE RELEASED ON JANUARY 11 2019.

From Inside band photo

Emerging alternative metal quartet From Inside return with their mesmerising sophomore EP, ‘When I’m Breathing Without You’, coming out on 14th September, and the exciting Liverpool outfit have also just premiered a brand new video for one of its tracks, ‘Before I Leave’.

Expressing a sound that fuses sweeping atmospherics with driving distorted guitars, all framed by layered orchestral synths and emotional lyrics and themes, From Inside aim to challenge and ignite the listener.

Having officially formed at the beginning of 2017, the four-piece quickly burst onto the scene with their debut single, ‘Find My Way’, which was premiered by Kerrang! Radio, and was soon followed by the band’s first EP, entitled ‘The New Era’.

A sell-out show in their home city sparked early momentum and the alternative metallers proceeded to grow their fan base, playing dates with such outfits as WSTR, Loathe, and Holding Absence, as well as touring with the likes of Crazy Town and Slaves.

From Inside have gone from strength to strength, and 2018 is set up to be a critical year for them with the impending release of their new EP, and they had this to say about it: “The message is clear and simple… life can be difficult at times, but through hope and perseverance you will one day come through on the other side to find a better life. RISING METAL QUARTET FEAR ME DECEMBER TO RELEASE NEW EP THIS SEPTEMBER

Fear Me December band photo

Fear Me December are an accomplished Anglo-Argentinean quartet who were originally formed in 2012 by vocalist and bassist Victoria Cabanellas and guitarist Valentin Macagno.

After receiving strong support for their debut EP, ‘Who Cares’, the band decided to relocate to England in 2014, and soon after, they delivered their debut album, ‘Between Violence and Silence’.

The record widened the heavy rock outfit’s reach and fan base, however, the band were struggling with personnel, but after a lengthy search, the band recruited Tony Small on drums and Stuart Woolley on rhythm guitar.

With a heavier sound and fresh impetus, the alternative rock crew began to reshape and craft an original set and pen tunes for their forthcoming new EP, ‘Crystallized’.

The four-piece were recently snapped up by Reaction Management (Altered Sky), and they have also just completed work on what is set to be their finest release to date, which arrives this September, and boasts four blistering slabs of melodic metal and alluring modern rock.

From the pounding burly edge of ‘Fight Me’, to the tuneful sensibilities of ‘Not Wired The Same’, the EP showcases the band’s songwriting heart and steel in equal measure.

‘This Is Not OK’ further highlights the quartet’s deft ability to create a true anthem, and the EP’s title track signs off the release in fantastic style with its urgent rhythmic passages and captivating hook.

With a string of UK shows also planned for September, and further festival appearances, Fear Me December are set for great heights.

OXFORD MATHCORE TRIO MASIRO ANNOUNCE SOPHOMORE EP

Masiro band photo

Oxford mathcore trio Masiro have been captivating listeners with their own blend of math-prog metal since the tail end of 2011.

Originally formed with Chris Pethers on drums and Mike Bannard on guitar, they soon wanted to push the envelope, and consequently hooked up with Chris Hutchinson-Mogg (ex-50ft Panda) to help fulfil their unique vision of producing a sound that is not only interesting and off-kilter, but hypnotic and alluring.

Although influenced by everyone from Meshuggah and Primus, through to the Mars Volta, Masiro bear their own markings, evidenced in the shape of their brand new EP, ‘Geodesics’, which is out on Friday 7th September.

Masiro spent their formative years shaping their set and focusing on their art. By 2016, the three-piece created their first EP, ‘Technocologist Unknown’, which caught the ears of Louder Than War, Alt Dialogue, Can This Even Be Called Music, The Punk Archive, and many others.

Shows with Poly-Math, Core of iO, Iran Iran, and Kusanagi have also only furthered the band’s reputation, and so too did last year’s appearance at Oxford’s renowned Audioscope Festival.

By 2017, the band were ready to lay down ideas for their sophomore EP. After many months of work, the trio put the final touches to the record this spring.

Entitled ‘Geodesics’, the EP features Charlie Cruickshank on saxophone for the song, ‘K-Ursa’, and long-time friend and collaborator, Lee Riley, supplying drone material for the track, ‘Intermission: Graveyard Orbit’.

‘Geodesics’ is a record that displays the breadth of MASIRO’s ability across six distinct cuts, panning from subtle introspection to ferocious catharsis.

Inventive and expansive, the band have amalgamated a sound that is imaginative and ambitious. The prog-math trio are announcing key shows throughout this summer, so stay glued for social media announcements, and watch them soar.
