Sasha & The Shades continue their rapid-fire series of autumn singles with the spirited, optimistic belter ‘Wait & Pray‘.
A perfect showcase for Sasha Adamczewski‘s distinctively gravel-edged gospel vocals, the song comes from the rawer, bluesier end of the London six-piece’s repertoire, nailed down by a monstrous groove courtesy of their enviously sleek rhythm section.
Recorded by Sean Read (Dexy’s Midnight Runners, Manic Street Preachers, Edwyn Collins) at his Famous Times studios in the UK capital, the track’s message is that good things do indeed come to those who wait.
“It’s about not giving yourself the time to self-doubt,” says Sasha, “and it’s also about how important and difficult that is to the experience and journey of being a musician.”
As with each of their current run of singles, it’s backed by a flipside counterpart in the spirit of an old-school 7″ release, the equally expansive and anthemic B-side ‘The Sun‘, which deals with a period of confusion and family problems in Sasha‘s life during his brother’s addiction to heroin.
With a list of influences that takes in everything from The Ramones and AC/DC to Ry Cooder and Screaming Jay Hawkins, Sasha & The Shades recently piqued the blogosphere’s attention with the eerie folk-infused single ‘Echoes‘, premiered by Americana, and featured in Gigslutz, God Is In The TV, and Muzak Review among others.
‘WAIT & PRAY’ – THE LATEST SINGLE FROM SASHA & THE SHADES – WILL BE RELEASED ON OCTOBER 4, AND IS AVAILABLE TO LISTEN TO NOW EXCLUSIVELY THROUGH THE MUZAK REVIEW FACEBOOK AND TWITTER PAGES.
