HIGHLY-REGARDED SWISS PUNKS SLIMBOY RETURN WITH NEW ALBUM AND UK TOUR

Slimboy band photo

Slimboy are back with a European tour with US pop-punks, MEST, as well as re-releasing their latest album, ‘Sail On Sailor’, on 10th August via NiRo music. The acclaimed punks have also just released a new track, ‘Let It Go’.

Swiss punk rockers Slimboy possess a rich heritage. Having originally formed at the start of this millennium, the Basel-based trio have seen and just about lived through it all: signing to a major label, touring the world, recording albums in LA, and even chart success in their native country.

After a brief hiatus, the three-piece returned to the fold last year, and have recently completed a highly successful tour with The Ataris. Slimboy also travelled to the States to record their fifth album with Mike Herrera (MxPx) in his Seattle-based studio.

‘Sail On Sailor’ is an album with wide scope, panning from punk-rock cuts, right through to more lighter and mature tracks, and is a record that has really pushed the trio both musically and emotionally.

WELSH ALT-ROCKERS STATIC FIRES REVEAL NEW TRACK AND DEBUT ALBUM PLANS

Static Fires band photo.jpg

Rising alternative rock quartet Static Fires begin their assault on the UK with the release of their mesmerising debut album, ‘Thirteen’, out on Friday 10th August. In the meantime, the aspiring riff merchants have dropped a new track, ‘Return’.

There is truly something in the water in South Wales, as year after year, this relatively small area of the UK has produced a cornucopia of premium talent, and the next band aiming to add to this already impressive list are Static Fires.

Making their way out of Swansea, STATIC FIRES are a striking four-piece that have been plying their trade in the area since late 2014.

Comprised of old school friends, Sam Randles (lead vocals/guitar), Jack Clements (lead guitar/vocals), Tom Gibbins (bass), and Jack Piper (drums/vocals), the hotly-tipped alt rockers have drawn favorable comparisons to the Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Kings of Leon.

Right from the off, they extensively penned new tunes with gigs to follow, and in the spring of 2016, the band revealed their self-titled debut EP to much support, and the Welsh rockers took the positive experiences yielded from that, ploughing them into their forthcoming debut album, ‘Thirteen’.

Framed by eight strapping cuts, ‘Thirteen’ is rammed with fist-in-the-air choruses, explosive rhythms, and thoughtful arrangements that belie the group’s years.

From the eerie Alice in Chains-esque opening bars of ‘Rollercoaster’, through to the Red Hot Chili Pepper styled-groove of their forthcoming single, ‘Black Velvet’, Static Fires have compressed their influences with a hefty amount of guile and astuteness.

Their new single, ‘Return’, magnificently comes over you with balanced guitar scapes and soaring vocal lines. Plug it in and soak it up, as these guys are set to rise!

ROSEN RELEASE NEW SINGLE AND DETAIL UPCOMING DEBUT EP PLANS

Rosen band photo 2

Highly-rated crossover crew Rosen continue their emergence with the release of their self-titled new EP, which arrives on Friday 27th July. Before then, the London-based quintet have dropped a new track, ‘Reverie’.

Since arriving on the scene last year, Rosen have wooed fans and industry tastemakers alike for their politically triggered hip-hop/nu metal amalgamation that takes influence from Korn and Hacktivist, spanning through to Rage Against The Machine and Limp Bizkit.

The band are comprised of a culturally diverse group with members originating from all corners of the globe, and this wider world view has only served to shape and sharpen the five-piece’s outlook.

With a strong social consciousness, and song topics ranging from social media and egotism, through to censorship and general apathy, the outfit have a loud and forceful voice.

Their debut single, ‘High Tech Low Life’, created solid awareness for the fiery quintet, and when they delivered their sophomore single and video, ‘Riot’, earlier this year, the track furthered the crossover crew’s reach even more, as it picked up acclaim from the likes of Moshville, Vents magazine, Alt Corner, Broken Arrow magazine, and radio airplay on Total Rock.

Rosen now kick on again with the release of their self-titled debut EP, which lands on 27th July, and be sure to catch the band live as they hit the road this summer.

HIGHLY-RATED LONDON QUINTET GHOULS UNVEIL NEW SINGLE AND ANNOUNCE FURTHER UK TOUR DATES

Ghouls band photo

British quintet Ghouls are an outfit that continue to grow with every release.

Following on from a succession of critically acclaimed EPs and albums that have garnered praise from leading industry tastemakers including Kerrang!, Rock Sound,
Punktastic, and Kerrang! TV, the highly-rated punk rockers now push forward again with the release of their new single, ‘Internet Famous’, which is now available via all streaming outlets, through The Animal Farm. The Londoners have also unveiled a video for the track.

Ghouls began to make their mark in 2013 with their debut album, ‘Ten Thousand Words On’. The quintet performed a sell-out show at The Monarch in Camden, wooing a glut of fans, including Frank Turner.

Since then, the five-piece have gone from strength to strength, regularly touring throughout the UK, Europe, USA and Australia, as well as playing a host of leading UK and international festivals including 2000Trees, Boardmasters, Hit The Deck, NASS, Jera On Air (Netherlands), Mighty Sounds (Czech Republic), The Fest (USA), Takedown, Turbulence Festival, En Nord Beat (France), and Tramlines, as well as supporting the likes of Less Than Jake, Slaves, The Skints, The Ataris, Sonic Boom Six, Random Hand, OPM, ROAM, and more.

With a diverse range of musical backgrounds, Ghouls have earned a reputation for being extremely tough to categorise, as they do not conform to any particular genre, with their main objective being to create original, inspiring music that will draw in the listener.

The band also possess an impressive DIY ethos and have, to date, achieved everything due to sheer hard work and gritty determination.

Frontman Benedict Goold remarks: “Our best attribute as a band and as people is that we’ve never waited for things to happen – it’s always been about making things happen. We wanted to put out an album, so instead of waiting for a label and funding, we did a Kickstarter campaign, and self-released our first album. We wanted to tour the USA, so instead of waiting for an agent, we DIY’d a tour and made it happen.

Ghouls’s new single is being backed by a UK tour, and later this year, they will crossing the Atlantic to undertake another run of shows in the US.

EMERGING SCOTTISH PUNKS DEAD BY MONDAY UNVEIL NEW TRACK AND REVEAL DEBUT EP PLANS

Dead By Monday band photo

Scottish punk rockers Dead By Monday aim to stake their claim with the release of their debut EP, ‘Almost Punk’, out on Friday 27th July. The four-piece, from Glasgow, have also just released a lyric video for the explosive track, ‘Dead Souls’.

Dead By Monday have been burrowing away since 2016, crafting and honing their potent sound. Originally setting out to write politically-charged punk rock songs, the quartet soon evolved and began to create something heavier and acutely self-aware.

With Murray “Muzza” Taylor (vocals), Ciaran Whyte (drums), Declan “Sweet D” Buist (bass) and Paddy Chapman (guitar), the band have pooled from a slew of musical influences, sweeping from Rage Against The Machine and The Dillinger Escape Plan, through to NOFX and Gallows.

After months of perfecting their set, Dead By Monday started to lay siege on their homeland and beyond.

A plethora of fiery live shows soon followed, including supports with The Living End, Daggermouth, Annewrage and WRCKG, which has happily helped them scoop up widespread praise for their energetic and scintillating live performances, all in anticipation of laying down plans for their debut EP.

Presenting four edgy and formidable punk-fuelled tracks, ‘Almost Punk’ is direct and catchy, yet intense enough to burrow deep paths into the cranium. From the anthemic guile of ‘The First’, to the ballsy energetic beatings of their new single, ‘Dead Souls’, the four-piece have produced a record that is an ideal showcase for their fiercely energetic sound.

The collective’s guitarist, Paddy Chapman, comments about the EP: “‘Almost Punk’ is a multi-faceted release, drawing inspiration from hardcore breakdowns, classic rock licks, progressive drums and the political rage of the punk bands of old. It’s a sharp and aggressive EP, that we hope, will leave you nodding your head for days!

SCOTTISH QUARTET CENTURY THIRTEEN RELEASE NEW TRACK AND DETAIL ALBUM PLANS

Century Thirteen band photo

Century Thirteen’s own blend of alternative rock, fuelled with pop-punk, takes from a range of sources, but predominately pulls from Blink-182, New Found Glory, and Green Day.

The Glaswegian punks set loose their new self-titled album on Friday 13th July, through all platforms. The four-piece have also just released a new track, ‘Not My Place’.

Since their formation in 2014, the Scottish tunesters have worked exceptionally hard on their craft. Aided by a strong DIY work ethic, the quartet have already released four well-received EPs, and have built a steady fan base throughout Scotland, which has been encouraged by a series of high-octane and energetic live performances.

The industrious four-piece have also shared stages with everyone from Fenix TX, The Bottom Line, Better Days, Speaking in Shadows, Chasing Cadence, Altered Sky, Your Illuminations, Homebound, and Six Time Champion, to Lightyear.

Century Thirteen also possess a passionate community spirit, and regularly play numerous charity events and shows for such causes as cancer research, metal health awareness, and autism.

The punk rockers have just completed work on their new self-titled album, which arrives this July, and the record is stuffed from back to front with bangers.

From their forthcoming single, ‘A Million Times’, to the newly-released ‘Not My Place’, the album is the band’s best work to date.

Co-vocalist and guitarist, Scott Macleod, comments on the upcoming release: “For this album, instead of recording the tracks ourselves, we were recorded by Andy Malcolmson from the band Northern Nightlights. He gave us more freedom to work on the arrangements and the performance, and the result is so much stronger and more diverse in sound than our previous recordings“.
